Census Releases American Community Survey Data on Education and Employment
About
The U.S. Census Bureau provides regular releases of American Community Survey (ACS) statistics on education and employment. The release date for 2019 ACS data is September 17, 2020.
About the American Community Survey Data
The American Community Survey (ACS) provides a wide range of important statistics about people and housing for every community in the nation. Statistics on numerous demographic, social, economic and housing characteristics, including language spoken at home, educational attainment, commute to work, employment, mortgage status and rent, as well as income, poverty and health insurance coverage will be available. ACS data are often recommended for applicants seeking ETA discretionary grants-in-aid given the general documentation requirement in our solicitations to “describe the local and regional labor markets in which the grant would operate.”
Release of Two-Year ACS Estimates
The ACS one-year estimates are available for all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, and all counties and places with populations of 65,000 or more. The ACS 2011-2015 five-year estimates were released on December 8, 2016 for all geographic areas including Census tracts, ZIP code tabulation areas and block groups. These statistics cover all geographic areas regardless of size, down to the block-group level, including nativity, ancestry, and selected monthly homeowner costs.
