O*NET Online - A Career Information Suite with Career Tools
About
The Occupational Information Network (O*NET) is a classification system and database that serves as the nation's primary source of occupational information.
Career data is essential to understanding the rapidly changing nature of work, and it has proven vital in helping people find the training and jobs they need, and employers find the skilled workers necessary to be competitive in the marketplace.
The SOC 2018 (Standard Occupational Classification) is a federal statistical standard to classify occupational categories. The SOC code is part of the full O*NET-SOC 2019 coding of occupational characteristics, detailed work activities, and skill levels. The O*NET-SOC taxonomy defines the entire spectrum of the world of work.
O*NET Web Services includes the SOC 2019 taxonomy, including 1,016 occupational titles, 923 of which represent detailed occupations.
O*NET Online Suite of Career Tools
Every occupation has a different mix of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). These distinguishing characteristics in the anatomy of a single occupation are described by the O*NET Content Model. O*NET's database provides KSAs in its competency frameworks, and in My Next Move and My Next Move for Veterans. The Competency Frameworks can help with credentials, skills thesauruses and job descriptions. The suite also includes Mi Proximo Paso (Spanish version of My Next Move), O*NET Interest Profiler, and RAPIDS Apprenticeship Program Crosswalk Search.
