Job-to-Job Flows Explorer Webinar - See Workers Job-Hopping across Cities in the Tool

About

The Census Bureau hosted a webinar on December 4, 2019 on, "New Updates to Job-to-Job Flows Explorer on Workers Job-Hopping across Cities."

Job-to-Job (J2J) Flows Explorer, Version 1.0

The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership offer new capabilities of the Job-to-Job Flows Explorer tool, a web-based analysis and interactive visualization data tool.

It provides comprehensive access to job flow statistics via an intuitive dashboard interface in order to provide businesses, researchers and policy makers greater insight into labor market shifts and their impacts across the economy.

Updates include tabulations by metro areas, compare worker earnings, rank industries and geographies, and normalize data on the fly, including calculating labor market share. Multiple small interface improvements have been added to the application, as well.

The Value of LEHD Data in the LED Census Collection

A 21st century statistical system must provide information about the dynamic economy quickly, using data assets efficiently while minimizing the burden of collecting and providing data and fully preserving confidentiality.

The Census Bureau's Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data has demonstrated the power and usefulness of linking multiple business and employee data sets with state-of-the-art confidentiality protections to build a longitudinal national framework of jobs information.

Job-to-Job (J2J) Flows Data

J2J is a new set of statistics on worker reallocation in the U.S. constructed from the LEHD data. The initial release of national data distinguishes hires and separations associated with job change from hires and separations to non-employment.
